Eating is a Pleasurable Habit

The habit of eating poorly is difficult to break, because food is so available, inside and outside the house.
Food can be  pleasurable, it involves all our senses.
Touch, taste, smell,  visual, sometimes audible  (popcorn, food frying, soda poured) and sometimes mental.
Have you ever eaten something that brought back a  memory or feeling?
Our first stages of life are extremely oral, as we all suckle for our nourishment. This action becomes comforting and we associate eating with satisfaction and comfort.
As we get older we are taught to enjoy sweets, by receiving candy as treats on holidays and cakes on our birthdays and for celebrations. We learn to accept sweets and food and associate celebrations with food and think of them as a reward. Food becomes a reminder of happier times. When we are stressed we all look for comfort food. Food can be  like chicken soup for our souls too. Filling our emotional needs with calories to soothe our emotions.
All these factors lead to overeating later on in life, especially during stressful times, when we must cope with situations where we feel the need to soothe ourselves We use food to fill voids in our life, like when we feel deprived of attention or love or to make ourselves feel good
Hypnosis can help you soothe yourself spiritually so you won't feel the urge to soothe yourself with food.

All these factors lead to over-eating, or stress eating later on in life. Fulfilling a need for comfort, when we must cope with situations where we feel the need to soothe ourselves, or make ourselves feel good.
Sometimes we like to eat because eating can be pleasurable and  we all like to give ourselves pleasure.
But, ...Giving ourselves this kind of pleasure can be detrimental to our health, as the side effects of obesity can be life threatening leading to high-blood pressure ,diabetes and stroke.
You can try diet drugs or herbal weight loss but some of the diet drugs available on the market today can be harmful or fatal as well!

These tapes are not a diet. You know what you should and should not eat!. If you don't, your doctor can advise you best

Here are a few tips to help you

To lose one pound, a person must burn 3,500 calories more than are consumed. For example, reducing calories by 300 per day and increasing daily activity to burn off an additional 200 calories should result in a weight loss of one pound per week. Lose One pound a week and lose 52 pounds in a year!

If you change a few small habits, it may help you a great deal!
  • You are what you eat! Find the foods that are best for your body!
  • Keep a food journal, see how you feel after eating certain foods. Which foods make you hungary an hour later?
  • Do you get a rush after having sugar? Does it make you hungrier than before?
  • You must do some types of exercise, even a short walk each day will help
  • Be conscious of your eating habits- Is this an emotional snack? Food is a temporary solution that will only satisfy you while you are eating. You Pay later with unwanted pounds.
  • FOOD IS NOT A REWARD, DO NOT TEACH YOUR CHILDREN THIS BY REWARDING THEM WITH CANDY OR SWEETS!
  • If you have a food craving, put the food on the table, count to 100, if you still want it, go ahead,  have a small portion but, DO NOT PIG OUT !!
  • If you should cheat (eat something that is not on your diet.) Get over it and continue on your diet the rest of the day. Don't use it as an excuse to "pig out" (cheat ) the rest of the day
  • The rewards of dieting are not the foods, but the way you will look and feel and how others will look at you and feel towards you.
  • Don't buy things that you are not supposed to eat. Out of sight out of mind. If you don't have it in the house, you won't eat it( unless you want to exercise to get it!)
  • Cut your salt consumption. Look at the salt content in food it will shock you. Salt is especially high in prepared foods, soups, soda, yes, even diet soda, lunch meats, even cereals!
  • Drink 8-10 glasses of water a day, it will help flush out the fats
  • Low fat diets are recommended, for some people, No hard cheeses, lean beef, fish 2x a week, poultry (white meat) Pasta (no oil)
  • Everything in moderation
  • Don't go to bed hungry, sugarless Jell-O is  low calorie snack
  • Behavior modification is the key
  • Small goals make big progress. 1 pound a week will lose 52 pounds a year
  • Slow down, eating slowly, put your fork down between bites. It takes time for the stomach to tell the brain to stop eating!
  • Take a break while eating.  Eat your meal as if you are in a restaurant, one course at a time
  • Savor every thing you eat. If you eat an apple, put it on a plate, cut it up
  • The higher the calories, the slower it should be eaten
  • If your meal is eaten in less than 20 minutes, you're eating too fast
